It would be great to get a S3 alternative implemented such as Wasabi. If you generalize the input for the AWS settings, any alternative should work as they are usually almost "drag and drop" alternatives. https://wasabi.com/
I don't understand why Wasabi is so popular for that use case, I talked about this recently on a few channels including Wasabi support. I talked to Wasabie support a year ago, and recently again. It's not good for WordPress backups because it stores and charges for the used space for 90 days minimum, let's say you have 50 websites each 1GB in size. Let's say you want to keep 20 days.
One day is 50GB
20 days is 1000GB
You would think after 30 days it's still 1000GB but it is not. It's more like 1500GB.
The retention doesn't work this way because it keeps it for up to 90 days.
I am not sure what it means exactly after 90 days, but I suppose it's 4500GB for keeping the last 20 days instead of 1000GB. Even though I like Wasabi from my testing, I don't think its a good solution for WordPress offsite backups
